Leslie Tarr Laurie has dedicated herself to health and human services since 1969. Under her leadership, spanning the existence of Tapestry Health, the agency has served more than 100,000 individuals.
As medical, political, and social issues emerge, Leslie has recognized the need to diversify Tapestry Health beyond its focus of family planning and reproductive health in order to form a comprehensive approach to care. Her vision led the agency to introduce HIV counseling and testing services to Western Massachusetts in 1990, operate the only needle exchange west of Cambridge, enroll residents in state health insurance, run a WIC nutrition program, and screen for cervical and breast cancers, among countless other initiatives.
